Services

At Harmony Animal Hospital, we emphasize the importance of preventive veterinary care through semi-annual examinations, appropriate selection of vaccinations, and diagnostic services such as bloodwork to avoid or delay the onset of clinical disease. A list of our veterinary services follows presently:

Allergy Testing: Environmental, food, and flea allergies have become more problematic in recent years than ever before. While flea allergies are relatively easily diagnosed with physical examination, and food allergies through hyposensitization trials with prescription food products and dietary controls, environmental allergies are best diagnosed through blood testing, a service we provide with an allergist of greater than 40 years experience.

Anesthesia: We utilize the safest available medications to help avoid any anesthetic complications, especially with regard to our older or high-risk patients. Using the most modern equipment, the patient's vital signs are monitored during all anesthetic procedures. Our anesthetic protocol also incorporates pain management medications to keep pets comfortable post-surgically. Click here to download the pre-anesthesia testing consent form.

Bathing: Routine bathing services are available to help keep your pet looking and smelling their best, while therapeutic baths are available to help combat dermatologic disease such as ectoparasites (fleas, ticks, and lice), dermatitis from bacterial, fungal, or allergic causes, dry skin (seborrhea sicca), and can be scheduled throughout the weekday.

Blood Pressure Management: The significance of hypertension has only become evident in the last 6-7 years. This is because it is not as easy to measure BP in dogs and cats, given their decreased inclination to sit still! Utilizing a very sensitive blood pressure device, we are now better able to diagnose and treat hypertension as it occurs in our companion animal species.

Boarding: We provide pet boarding as a service to our clients. All boarders receive personal attention from our caring staff. Pets may be dropped off and picked up during regular business hours Monday through Saturday.

Cremation: We offer a cooperative with a highly respectable cremation service to properly dispose of the remains of your deceased pet, and the service also allows for individual cremation whereby your pet's ashes can be returned to you.

Dentistry: The mainstay of periodontal health in animals as well as humans is teeth brushing, which is both the least expensive and most optimal manner in which to maintain the longevity of our pet's teeth. However, this is impractical for many pet owners. As such, we maintain a wide variety of dental products such as chews, oral rinses, and drinking water additives to help allow clients more easily care for their animal's periodontal health. Our dental services also include teeth cleaning and polishing, extraction of diseased teeth, and fluoride applications.

Diagnostic imaging: Our radiology service is available 24 hours a day, and is useful for evaluating thoracic and abdominal abnormalities as well as screening for orthopedic diseases including fractures, bacterial infection of bones, and cancer. We also offer in-hospital access to veterinarians who specialize in performing ultrasounds to more accurately diagnose and treat cardiac and abdominal organ conditions that could not be identified otherwise.

Dietary Counseling: We will provide guidance regarding your pet's nutritional needs for each life stage, including dietary requirements for growth, weight maintenance and performance. Dietary information is especially important in the prevention and management of diseases such as osteoarthritis, diabetes mellitus, and cancer.

Electrocardiography Services: Our computer analyzed ECG machine allows the most refined sensitivity for diagnosing cardiac arrythmias in your pet. This tool is an essential part of our ability to perform cardiac workups, aided by the use of thoracic radiographs and cardiac ultrasound as needed.

Emergency Care: We are on-call for your pets' emergency situations 24 hours a day throughout the year, including holidays. Please refer to our emergency services page for more information on this provision.

Home Euthanasia: Part of being a dutiful pet owner means having to consider end-of-life issues as our loving animal companions reach their geriatric years. While the decision to euthanize a pet is difficult in the best of circumstances, we try to enable that the client and patient are as comfortable as possible with the procedure by providing a home euthanasia service, which is available upon request.

Laboratory: Our in-house laboratory facilities provide for evaluation of white and red blood cell counts, electrolytes, blood chemistries including liver, kidney and pancreatic values, infectious disease screening for lyme, giardia, ehrlichia, anaplasma, heartworm diseases, as well as FIV/FeLV. In addition, we also have a coagulation analyzer to rule out bleeding disorders, a urinalysis machine to accurately perform chemical urine screens, and utilize commercial veterinary laboratories for specialized diagnostics and consultations.

Permanent identification: Microchip identification is provided at your request to help aid in the safe return of your pet should he or she become lost. We utilize the most comprehensive microchip on the market, Bayer's ResQ chip, which is internationally recognized in case you treat your furry companion to a destination vacation!

Pharmacy: We maintain a complete inventory of pharmaceuticals, vitamins, shampoos, flea and tick control products and heartworm preventatives to meet the needs of your pet, available by prescription at competetive rates with respect to on-line vendors. We also carry a full line of prescription diets to help alleviate specific ailments such as kidney disease, urinary crystal formation, allergy disorders, etc.

Surgical Services: Our state-of-the-art surgical suite provides for the performance of a wide variety of surgical procedures. We perform everything from routine castration, spays, dentals, and dewclaw removals to advanced surgical repair of cancer, foreign bodies, orthopedic injuries, lacerations, etc. Our general veterinary practitioners perform the majority of these procedures, and we also employ the services of board certified veterinary surgeons for more specialized procedures.

Testimonial

  • "I love this vet. All of the employees are so helpful and take the time to talk with you even if its just consoling... We live in PA but don't mind the nice country drive to their private office... Our small breed dogs love them. When our one dog passed at 6mos. they were very supportive, and even sent a sympathy card. We like that they always have time, even 24 hr. emergency care and are always clean and helpful and friendly."
